Fire and Brimstone: Laser-Etched Climate Change Art by Yudha Scholes

The environment is under threat from anthropogenic climate change, facing responses like flood, drought, and fire—big fire. Nature’s beauty and wonder have been pushed into a corner, adopting a more fearsome persona. In response to this urgent issue, I created a series of environmental art pieces that capture this vengeful mood, intertwining devastation with beauty. By imitating the powerful element of fire, I used a laser to burn images of my paintings into organic materials such as wood and paper, allowing me to embody nature’s destructive power through these unique laser-etched artworks.
