The environment is under threat from anthropogenic climate change, facing responses like flood, drought, and fire—big fire. Nature’s beauty and wonder have been pushed into a corner, adopting a more fearsome persona. In response to this urgent issue, I created a series of environmental art pieces that capture this vengeful mood, intertwining devastation with beauty. By imitating the powerful element of fire, I used a laser to burn images of my paintings into organic materials such as wood and paper, allowing me to embody nature’s destructive power through these unique laser-etched artworks. This collection by Yudha Scholes seeks to provoke thought and reflection on our planet's fragile state.
